  • I bought this camera as a means of replacing the camera on my smartphone. I personally hate smartphone cameras. Pictures might be okay, but when it comes to video - even the iPhone leaves a lot to be desired.I initially bought the new iPhone 11 (a $1500 purchase) for its video capabilities and triple cameras, but after a day-and-a-half I returned it.The cost of purchasing a pixel 3, coupled with this Canon g7x Mark 3 what\'s cheaper than the iPhone, and the camera on this blows any smartphone camera out of the water.I bought this camera recognizing a lot of folks had issues with autofocus, and overheating.I\'m not one to listen to what folks say so I figured I\'ll see for myself. This camera performed wonderfully - if you know what you\'re getting in terms of technological limitations. For the price I got...4K up to 10 minutes continuous (until you get the overheat symbol - after which you can switch down to 1080p) // I use this for vlogging. Personally, I believe if somebody has trouble communicating thoughts in under 10 minutes then perhaps they should take a moment and gather their thoughts before speaking, just saying.120 FPS slow motion, as well as 60 fps - which to be honest is brilliant. Yes, if you continuously play back 120fps, then you will get the overheat symbol. But if you shoot in bursts like it should be used then it shouldn\'t be a problem.Microphone input for getting clean audio when vlogging!Time lapse video with manual controls! You have the ability to switch between Auto and manual.Wonderfully clear and articulating flippy screen. The autofocus works just fine, assuming you\'re not pushing it to extremes. If you go from focusing directly in front of the lens, and then try to focus to Infinity while you\'re stopped down to F 1.8 - then of course you\'re going to have issues. - especially on a system that\'s contrast based face detection.Use the autofocus like a normal human being that has some level of Competency with a camera and you\'ll be just fine. The firmware update did help quite a bit in terms of making it faster. And, that\'s pretty much all I need.Things I wish it did better would be the following..I wish the camera sensor had better dynamic range. The whites tend to be blown out, or if the whites are fully exposed in a bright area then the dark tend to be very dark. But, in comparison to cell phone images it\'s more than good enough.I wish the custom ring on the lens could be map to focusing. If I could have manual focus and control using the ring instead of shutter or ISO - that would be awesome! And, if it had a cold shoe maybe on the side or the bottom. I have to buy a separate accessory bracket to get the cold shoe for my rode Wireless go microphone attachment.Other than that let\'s understand what this camera is not.It\'s not a Handycam. If you\'re looking to record boring dance recitals for your kid or family members that run on for an hour and no one will watch anyway, this is not the camera for you. This is not a filmmaking camera. You\'re not going to get all kinds of manual controls attached to every other dial with custom buttons, nor will you be able to record to a high-quality codec such as prores. This is the key difference between the Sony RX100 Mark 7 and this camera. The RX100 is basically a Sony a6400 in pocket size without an interchangeable lens. - but if I am looking for a filmmaking camera, I\'m going to get a filmmaking camera - not an RX 100 (especially considering that camera goes for the same price as an a6400)I\'ve been using this camera for over a month now and it has pretty much replaced any multimedia that my cell phone would do.I can transfer via Bluetooth any images I take right away. When it comes to transferring videos that I\'ve shot onto my phone, I simply use an SD card dongle that I connect to my pixel 3 and literally just copy the files over.Do you want to see the stuff I\'ve shot, and further review of this camera, YouTube search \"belal Khan g7x\" and you can see for yourself
  • These are what the company provided so I matched what they had and am amazed at the difference a good camera makes over my samsung Note 20
  • I bought this Canon G7 camera for shooting underwater photos. The camera will be in an underwater housing with external underwater flash. I\'ve been using an older compact Canon G11 for this purpose for over a decade and decided to upgrade to this newer model. Haven\'t had a chance to use the G7 yet underwater but I\'ve compared it to my older G11 camera on land. MUCH improved image quality at higher ISO settings (as I had expected) with the G7. I also compared the G7 to a new Olympus E-PL10 which has a larger image sensor. Shooting in JPEG mode with each camera I could not discern a significant difference in image quality so I returned the Olympus in favor of the more compact G7. I\'ve been testing the G7 on land in manual mode (which is how it will be used underwater) and like everything about how the controls can be used to vary shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. My only slight niggle is how the light meter works. On the old G11 camera the meter was always on and showing an exposure reading, whereas with the new G7 the meter only reads once the camera has been focused on a subject. A minor point and probably not ever going to be a problem for the general user.
  • The camera is amazing but for the price it should come with 2 batteries, buying another battery is $45 just for one and the batteries came out 11 years ago so $45 is a little ridiculous
  • Takes time to learn all the different settings and functions, but the camera quality is amazing.
  • All the qualities of this camera really gave me a step up in all of my videos and pictures when it comes to quality. It’s easy to use and with this being the most expensive purchase made with Amazon, it’s WELL WORTH IT!
  • I needed a point and shoot with some advanced features and this totally fit the bill. I have a full sized DSLR and a mirrorless camera and was looking for something I could put in my pocket or fanny pack and not lug around a bunch of gear all the time. I was thinking of purchasing a Ricoh GRIII but I just couldn\'t see myself spending 1k for a camera with a built in prime lens (no zoom). This camera is really fast, touch screen functions are great, and image quality and color is fantastic. It\'s pretty solid feeling in the hand, has a nice weight to it, and dials and buttons all feel great and have nice placement. Some reviews complain about battery life but I haven\'t had any problems. I mainly shoot stills and an occasional video and the battery lasted all day. I\'m from an older photography generation so coming home with 1200 pics is not something I do. I may shoot 30/50 stills per day so the battery lasts for almost 1 week. Battery life does suffer when shooting video but the videos look really good. If you\'re just beginning with photography this camera has some features you might not need or want as of yet so save your money and downgrade a bit. Overall a good camera!
  • This is a phenomenal all round camera for nearly any use you can think of. The update allows the auto focus to suck less. The picture quality is great when you use the right settings. And it works well as a webcam if you get the canon software to allow it. The only problem I have with this camera is it\'s extremely low capacity battery only allowing about an hour of power when just on. When recording at qualities below 4k it also lasts about an hour. On 4k you will be lucky to have it last much more than a half an hour. I bought extra batteries for it and hope those help the longevity! Otherwise this camera is great.
