Zink Polaroid Snap Touch Portable Instant Print Digital Camera with LCD Touchscreen Display (Red)
- I consider this to be a cute addition to my toy camera collection, an novelty item, good for parties and sharing photos with friends. Why do I consider this to be a toy? Because in many ways it\'s a novelty item, but not really a serious camera. It can\'t compete with a better point and shoot camera or DSLR for photo quality. The prints it produces are tiny, but shareable. The camera interface needs work and is limited; for instance there is no way to format you memory card (which you can separately), nor can you delete multiple images at one time. The aspect ratio is fixed and can\'t be altered. The touch screen in pokey, and is not full featured--you can\'t zoom in and out of your photos when displayed to check for motion for instance--you can only do that on your computer or tablet later. The self timer doesn\'t give adequate countdown feedback so it\'s hard to judge exactly when it will take the shot--for instance with my experimentation with it my group had trouble staying still for a 10 second delay after I got in the picture, while 3 seconds was almost not enough time. It would have been nice if I could use my cell phone as a remote shutter release with the Polaroid Android app--but that\'s not an option.Pictures printed from the cell phone came out with about the same clarity as those natively captured by the Snap Touch. All in all I a satisfied with print quality. The Bluetooth connection is limited to sending photos to the camera for make prints and checking for firmware updates, YOU CANNOT TRANSFER YOUR PHOTOS TO YOUR CELL PHONE OR TABLET. This would have been a useful feature, right now the only way to copy your photos from the camera to a computer or table is via a memory card reader or connecting the camera to our computer via USB cable. The digital copies of the photos seem to be a little on the soft side, when using HDR mode make sure you and your subject stays very still for the entire exposure or blurring can result. Photos that look soft in the digital copy can look OK when printed--so if you get a decent print you may not necessarily get a good copy to share on Facebook for instance. The video quality is acceptable, no image stabilization. The stickers and frames take up too much space on what are already tiny prints for my tastes. Beware, leave extra headroom when taking portraits because the prints will slightly crop your photos--crop them enough that if you frame you photo tightly you could cut off the top of someone\'s head. All in all I\'m satisfied by the novelty aspect of the camera, it would be possible, if you get a good digital copy to have larger prints made or for you to print out on your home printer.
- I received this as a gift and have so far played with it for about a day. I don\'t think those criticizing the image quality are being fair. Yes, I can get better quality out of my cell phone, let alone my DSLR. This isn\'t either of those things. This is a toy for making business-card-sized photo stickers. Let\'s keep perspective and have fun.Pros:- Battery life is pretty good.- Photo quality is adequate for the job.- Device is cute, successfully reminded me of the 1980\'s.- Magnetic lens cover is a nice touch; I hope I don\'t lose it.- Use is simple.Cons:- The app is poorly developed, to the point of uselessness or even posing a danger to your Android device. It asks for unreasonable permissions and has not been updated in over a year. It doesn\'t work on Android 7 at all.- Because the app is useless, I will have to get a microSD card for this if I want to print any photos from other devices, which is a huge hassle.- Polaroid has set up a DRM scheme for the paper using its \"calibration pages\". It\'s an insult on a >$150 toy. I\'d ordered a bunch of Polaroid papers for it when I got the camera, but I\'m tempted to get knockoffs in response to the hamfisted DRM, which introduces a failure point into the camera for no benefit to the consumer. Just save your old calibration pages (like the one that comes with the camera) for use with off-brand photo paper.- The touch screen is not very responsive. This doesn\'t really bother me because there is a physical shutter button. Conclusions:The things keeping this from being a 5-star review are the DRM and the inexcusably bad Android app. I\'ll have fun with my new toy anyway, but I won\'t be recommending it to anyone due to these two issues.
- This is a nice little camera and produces pretty decent sticker photos. It would be nice if they would offer photos in a non-sticker format. I\'ve had mixed results with some of the photos having small lines that you can see if the light reflects just right. If you are not pucky like me, you won\'t even notice it. You can run the blue card back through the camera and it seems to correct that situation. There\'s no other product that I can think of on the market like this so it is something cool to have. I could see where this would be really nice in cases where you need to make a badge for employee or something that requires a photo. This would also be great for scrapbooking. It\'s great to have at parties, birthdays and weddings as well there\'s no competitor that beats it in those areas that I can think of. If you\'re looking to print out photos however I would suggest the Canon Selphy 910. The quality of that printer is very consistent and prints 4 x 6 photos. The snap \"touch\" is a huge improvement over the snap model. I tried to snap model first but then realized I really needed an LCD screen. This camera gives you the option to print the picture or just keep it stored digitally. I also linked my iPhone 7 Plus up to it using Bluetooth and it prints from my iPhone flawlessly. To do that you need to use the app. Be cautious however because the directions on their website are not step-by-step and it took some searching to figure out how to set that up. Overall I\'m going to give this a high rating, not for the consistency of quality, but because there is really nothing else like it on the market.
