  • This was an upgrade from a Panasonic FZ-1000 for me, and my first digital interchangeable lens camera. I compared a lot of cameras in the $500 to $2000 price range (including APS and Full Frame) and selected this one based on the features and lenses available for the price. I specifically wanted one that had full auto and manual control, a vari-angle viewscreen, better dynamic range, and could give me a lot of telephoto range at a decent price and size. What really attracted me to this camera were the ND filter and the Live Composite modes. They have not disappointed. They are easy to use and I got them to work the first time I tried them. The weather sealing was another bonus for me since I use mine mostly outdoors.A lot of reviewers have complained about the menu system, but I found it to be much better than the one on my old camera, and I have not had any difficulty with it. On the old camera, I was always finding menu items that were greyed out and I would have to dig through the manual to find out why. This camera has a nice feature that displays all of your settings at the touch of the okay button. The root menus are also always shown on the screen and each menu item is only one page long. The autofocus has been pretty good, and you can configure it in a variety of ways, but I had a few problems where it would focus on something up close when I was quickly aiming for something farther away.I really like the two dials on top to control the aperture and shutter speed. The iso button is a little too small, but iso can also be controlled from the menu. The grip is also a little too small for me and the edges on the bottom are a little too hard. I also find my nose rubs against the screen.I bought a used Olympus 14-150mm lens to use as a kit lens, and also a used 25mm prime lens. I would like to get a bigger zoom, a macro lens, and a flash in the future, but so far what I have has worked for everything. I found buying used lenses online to be a really great and easy way to save money, and the quality is the same as new.I bought the camera new and pre-ordered it, but I got it on sale for $150 off a few days before Black Friday (I\'m kind of surprised Amazon was allowed to do that), and my whole kit including lenses ended up costing about $1500, which is not bad compared to other cameras in this price range.
  • A \"friend\" suggested I buy the camera. It was more than I could handle. The friend and the camera.Thank you!
  • If you are interested in the OM-5, I recommend you go to a camera store if possible, to see and hold the camera prior to purchasing. The built-in ND filters feature are for stills only. You can\'t use the filters for videos. The camera is packed with all the features you would need, such as vertical video, cine4k aka dci 4k 24p, 4k 30p,etc. Bluetooth, HDMI input, etc..My issue is when you hold the camera, if you\'ve owned the prior models EM-5 III or E-M1 II or even the EM-10 III,they all felt very significant and nice to hold. OM-5 is light and cheap looking and feeling in comparison. The body is some sort of plastic material. That\'s when it hits you, is this camera worth $1000+ asking price? I guess it\'s debatable, but for me I want the item to also look and feel premium if I\'m spending that amount of money.
