Sweep Panorama Mode Reach beyond the traditional wide angle lens, and capture more breathtaking shots with Sweep Panorama Mode. Simply press the shutter button and sweep the camera in the desired direction and the camera continuously shoots at a high speed, then seamlessly stitches the images together with automatic position adjustment to create one stunning panoramic image. Available in wide and ultra-wide options, the camera can take panoramic shots of up to 260 degrees. Now capturing wide landscapes is as easy as press and sweep. 720p MP4 HD Movie Mode5 In 720p MP4 movie mode the camera shoots 1280 x 720 high definition movies at 30 fps, which is the format when working with a PC5. Users will create high quality movies with full use of optical zoom in files small enough to transfer to compatible PC or Mac. Once transferred to a computer you can effortlessly upload your media to popular photo and video-sharing websites such as Photobucket and YouTube. (Compatible computer with internet capability required) Optical SteadyShot image stabilization Optical SteadyShot image stabilization uses a built-in gyro sensor to detect camera shake and automatically shifts the lens to help prevent blur without sacrificing image quality. Active Mode Stabilize hand held HD movies with active mode. For recording on the go this feature was designed to minimize motion capturing the video without all of the movement. Motion Detection Motion Detection, along with Face Motion Detection adjusts ISO sensitivity and increases the shutter speed when movement is detected, reducing blur in moving subjects and faces. Intelligent Auto Mode Unlike traditional auto mode, Intelligent Auto (iAuto) mode does the thinking, recognizing scenes, lighting conditions, faces, and adjusts settings resulting clear images, faces with natural skin tone and less blur. Take advantage of all the technology without leaving Auto mode. Kids on the playground, landscape shots, a beautiful flower or an indoor birthday party; all result in clear images without leaving auto mode. Soft Skin Mode Portrait subjects will love the results. Soft Skin mode recognizes skin tones and reduces the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles without affecting the rest of the shot. Natural Flash Conventional point-and-shoot camera flash shots just don't capture colors the way the eye sees them. Natural Flash mode takes a reference shot without flash and then uses that reference to correct the color, for far more lifelike images. In camera guide Take all the guesswork out of photography with the in camera guide. It’s convenient step-by-step instructions lead to a perfect shot. Smile Shutter technology Smile Shutter technology captures a smile the moment it happens. Simply press the Smile Shutter button and the camera does the rest. Also select adult and child priority and indicate the degree of Smile Detection Sensitivity. Intelligent Scene Recognition can be used together with Smile Shutter mode. This means that beautiful smiles can be captured with settings optimized for the particular scene, even in difficult conditions such as twilight and backlighting. Face Detection technology Sony’s Face Detection technology can automatically distinguish between children and adults. Face Detection technology detects up to eight individual faces and adjusts flash, focus, exposure, and white balance to help deliver crisp, properly lit images of family and friends. Anti-blink Function It’s frustrating to capture the perfect shot, only to review it later and discover subjects blinked during the photo. When the camera is set to Soft Snap, the Anti-blink function captures two images, recording only the photo with less squinting or blinking. If a blink is detected in other shooting modes, a warning will be displayed after you take the shot. TransferJet technology TransferJet technology, developed by Sony and advanced and promoted by consortium of 18 other companies, allows transfer of up to ten files between two TransferJet enabled devices just by touching their TransferJet logos together, without the hassle of hunting for cables or the complication of pairing6. High Sensitivity Mode (ISO 3200) High ISO allows for faster shutter speed, so you can take photos indoors or in low light without the need for a flash. In addition to High Sensitivity Mode (ISO), you can select up to seven ISO settings (Auto, 125, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200) when shooting in Program Auto Mode to adjust sensitivity to the shooting conditions. Easy Shooting Mode With Easy Shooting Mode, even beginners can take great photos. In Easy Shooting Mode, easy-to-understand basic instructions are displayed on the LCD screen and the camera switches to all automatic settings, removing several function choices and allowing you to focus on just your subject. Since this mode works together with Intelligent Scene Recognition, the camera selects the optimum setting for each scene. In addition the easy mode simplifies preview mode. In-Camera Retouching Tools Retouch and enhance your photos on the go with in-camera Trimming, Red-Eye Correction, and Unsharp Masking functions. Self-Portrait Timer Self-Portrait Timer helps take the guesswork out of self portraits by utilizing Face Detection technology to recognize when your face enters the frame. Once the camera detects your face, it triggers a 2-second timer, and then snaps a picture. PHOTOMUSIC4 PHOTOMUSIC4 combines images with music (4 tracks, 5 minutes per track) to produce fun and entertaining slide shows with standard visual effects (Simple, Nostalgic, Active, and Stylish). Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H70 16.1 MP Digital Still Camera with 10x Wide-Angle Optical Zoom G Lens and 3.0-inch LCD (Silver)
- I had an old dinosaur of a Sony that took 1280 by 640 photos, max quality. It weighed a ton and was a solid 1/2 cubic foot block of dead weight (or so it seemed). So it was HIGH time to upgrade. So seeing the wonderful reviews on this camera, and being happy with my previous one in spite of it being outdated, I happily ordered this one!Boy, what a PAIN this one was. We have incandescent lighting and no matter how many \"auto\" settings I tried, I couldn\'t get the pictures to come out without them having a yellowish tint to them. On top of it, since we have a large family, the pictures were consistently ruined by one kid or another moving and making a big blurry area. It was terrible! So I did research and changed some settings on the camera so that the shutter speed and other settings were better. I changed the White Balance to get rid of the yellow tinge (FINALLY!!). Still, it was very much a pain to have to constantly reset the white balance before I took any pictures. Some of the pictures were still blurry, but it was ACCEPTABLE, barely. Then I brought it to my new daughter\'s baptism and I got NOT ONE good picture because of the light coming through the windows. I am SO frustrated. I would have used my DINOSAUR camera if I would have known that this brand new, almost $200 dollar camera COULD NOT TAKE BETTER PHOTOS!!!! What good is a camera if you have to be messing around with settings before each one? Who has time to be messing with this before your child\'s special event, in the Church, etc??? I am FLABBERGASTED by all the 5 star reviews on this thing! So to continue the saga, I brought the camera to Best Buy to pick out a new one... and to see if I had a lemon. Lo a behold the camera was acting fine THERE, under their fluorescent light... but was still a bit on the blurry side and the colors weren\'t quite right. Picked out a new Nikon Coolpix S9100 that took excellent pictures in the store, brought that home, and it\'s PERFECT. You point it at your kids, it takes a picture perfectly. You then point it out the window at the bright light and it adjusts and comes out perfect. Voila! A camera that works!Oddly enough, I went to Sam\'s Club later that day after Best Buy and guess which camera I saw there? This Sony one! And guess what it did as soon as I tested THAT one in the store? Yup, blurry picture and glare coming from the door of Sam\'s. How in the WORLD did this camera get such good reviews??!!! Needless to say I\'m returning it even though I\'m past the 30 day window and probably won\'t get my full refund back. Adios, piece of junk! Pretty pitiful that you can\'t even take as solid pictures as a Sony from 10 years ago (that one takes 3.5\" floppy disc too, just to show you how old it is! LOL)
- I\"m sorry that I don\'t have more energy to write a better review, however if you are looking for a great point and shoot that won\'t break the budget please get the H70 while they are still around. If not, it\'s replacement the H90 would be a fine substitute. The DSC-H70 is actually a 2011 model that is still being sold (NEW) by Amazon and their partners that still have them in stock. While this was a $229 - $249 camera last year (the current price of the H90), I snagged it for just shy of $175. You can buy it from one of Amazon\'s partner stores so long as it is new in box. I was also able to add the Square Trade warranty to my camera with damage protection at a very reasonable price (about $40). The H70 does not have a very powerful zoom but when it is engaged the pictures are still very accurate. Leaving the flash in Auto mode (called Intelligent Auto) seems to allow for the capture of just the right amount of light . I have not tried this cam in a room that is completely dark yet. There are a lot of technology critics who will say the best point and shoot is on the iPhone 4s, but some of you are probably like me and do not want to have to pay $100 a month just to use a camera. Don\'t kid yourself this camera is not a DSLR or the higher end Canon S95. However, I am VERY satisfied with this model and would recommend the H70/H90 to anyone. Picture stability / auto focus is amazing.
- We bought this camera because my wife didn\'t want to lug one of our Nikon SLR\'s around on our recent trip to Spain and South Africa. It quickly became our go-to camera. After comparing the picture quality of photos taken with the Cyber-Shot to similar photos taken with a Nikon D70 (w/18-200 zoom lens), they are of near equal quality. The metering on the Nikon is just slightly better, but with photoshop, that doesn\'t really matter. Zoom is fantastic and compares to about a 150mm lens on a SLR. The panorama feature is really neat and gives good quality coverage. Having the built in movie feature is great. Photos cannot begin to capture the essence of Zulu dancers.I\'m willing to bet in the future that this camera gets used 5x more than our two Nikon SLR\'s. I purchased the 16GB high speed memory card and didn\'t once have to worry about running out of storage. Having a second battery came in handy. Leaving the camera on means that the LCD viewing screen is on and that cuts into battery life. Order a spare battery with the camera (the newer model G battery provides remaining time estimate on the dispaly screen).
- Don\'t make the mistake of buying this camera used like I did. For about two months it worked fine. The picture quality was great, the lens worked fine, the zoom was good, everything was fine and dandy. Then one day I turned on the camera and the lens wouldn\'t focus. I was afraid to mess with it in case I made it worse, I tried a few things to fix it and one thing did. The internet said to hold the \"menu\" button down while turning it on and it worked! About two weeks later I went to a concert and once again the lens wouldn\'t focus which was disappointing because I had been looking forward to taking lots of pictures there. I tried holding down the menu button again but it did nothing. I had never dropped the camera, or hit it, or had it anywhere near water. I couldn\'t return it because I bought it used online. If you get this camera, get it new. Hopefully you won\'t be disappointed like I was.
- nice camera-lotsa useable features, but does take some getting used to.very good low light indoor shots, but some reds become exaggerated when compared with the object, not a dealbreaker considering the detail you get but worth mentioning.i take alot of close-up,detail oriented shots for internet sales use,and it\'s very handy for that.i like the auto lens cover.zoom works well.did alot of research for cameras under $300,and decided on this, and have not been disappointed.
