- ISO Performance:This camera is so good that iso 12800 (Vlog) is sightly better than iso 12800 on the Sony A7Siii (Slog3).Image Quality:The Sony a7siii only has 12mp (4,240 Resolution) while the lumix s5ii has 24mp (6,000 Resolution). Even though there is a crop at 4k 60p, the resolution is at 4,000 which you can\'t see the difference from 4,240. So the I\'m quality is better than the Sony a7siii.Autofocus:The autofocus on this camera is insanely good for both stills and video. Better than canon and just as good as Sony. Finally!Final thoughts:I\'m comparing this camera to the Sony a7siii so you understand just how good this camera is. Sure it can\'t do 4k 120p but 60p is more than enough for me. And these days there is no difference between All-i vs LongGop compression. But this camera has way more video rich features than the Sony camera and more fun to use.
- The S5II is a solid camera which I still in the process of getting familiar with it. I do have one gripe that was advertised all over their commercial. It indicated that S5II has webcam functionality which it does not. It is only available for S5IIX. Which brings the question why does this camera exist in a separate SKU. Its a good camera for Lumix L Mount users but I\'m not convince it will compete with Sony, Canon, or Nikon and even Fuji anytime soon.I am a fan the 1.8 primes cost and similar size and weight
- So far the camera does everything great...
- I did not purchase through Amazon - even with Prime the wait was too long.I\'ve shot Canon DSLRs semi-professionally for almost 20 years. I had been impressed with the video features of Lumix since seeing so much of the GH5 on youtube. I just didn\'t want such a small sensor and the auto-focus was a non-starter for me as I shoot a wide range of subject matter from commercial real estate stills to wedding video. I\'d been looking for about 2 years for a unicorn camera that could do it all and nothing came close until the A7IV and this Lumix S5 Mark II. I don\'t like Sony color nor Sony as a company and Canon was dragging their feet to compete (now they have the M6II, but I hate that they make you buy only their own glass).I really think the Lumix S5II will be that unicorn camera for me. I love the results of the video testing I\'ve done so far - I have absolutely no complaints on that front. On the photography side, I will struggle to get used to an EVF. I think Panasonic did a great job, but I\'m going to miss my mirror and battery life I\'m afraid. Photo quality, color and AF speed and accuracy is really good. Now the reason for my 2-star review: dreadful software support and I blame Panasonic. I think they rushed this camera to market and didn\'t bother to work with software vendors for RAW support of this camera. Silkypix Developer Studio is horrendous and buggy. I don\'t love Canon\'s own RAW software but it\'s much much better. DxO shows compatibility with this camera starting 3/31/23 and Lightroom Classic does appear to support it with version 12.2, but I don\'t subscribe to Adobe\'s software rental service. Capture One shows a release in \"Q2\" with support for this camera - so that means anytime between now and July.I\'m not usually an early adopter of cameras, so this sort of issue is new to me but it\'s really frustrating. By the way - jpeg images straight out of the S5II are just not good. They have that smooth/crunchy look just like smartphones and that\'s not acceptable for a camera at this price point. I might come back in a couple months once there is better support among software vendors and update this review. Seriously, I think this camera deserves 5 stars from what it\'s shown me so far.
- Best hybrid Camera under $3000, nothing even comes close. Sony level autofocus, and the same legendary Panasonic color science and stabilization. The only thing I wish it had was uncropped 4k/ 60fps, but that’s literally the only omission that would’ve been nice to have. Other than that, the perfect camera in every way.
- I have had this camera for about 3 weeks now, but honestly, this is one of the few recent cameras that exhibits the worst moiré I\'ve ever experienced. Even S1 beats it, not just the S1H in that regard. So, basically, it made all my interviews useless.
