Olympus Pen E-PL8 Black Body with 14-42mm IIR Black Lens
- I’ve been eying mirrorless cameras for some time now but never really needed another camera. I did some heavy research on other mirrorless and because of the price, I went with the Olympus.Pros: It’s lightweight and takes pretty decent pictures. It’s not meant for pro photography but more so for stuff like blogging and YouTube vlogs. It’s also a good camera to take on trips because it’s light and small so it’s easy to carry around.Cons: Not a big fan of the WiFi. It doesn’t work properly so I’m finding myself having to use the USB cord to upload to my computer. One reason why I went with this camera was because I wanted the WiFi but I guess I’ll have to try another camera with better connection. I searched everywhere for answers to the issue but there doesn’t seem to be any.NOTE: After playing with the camera for a week or so, I realized that the wifi only works on jpegs, not RAW. I was shooting in RAW. I switched to jpegs and everything worked perfect!.
- I really wanted to love this camera and it has so many positives!Pros:- Beautiful/sleek/vintage look- Extremely lightweight --- I was able to fit comfortable into crossbody bags on my travels --- and still allows for me to switch out lenses.- Wifi is super convenient- Images are beautifulCons:- Image syncs to my phone can be inconsistent. Sometimes takes quite awhile to download --- and I still have quite a few pictures from one session that doesn\'t show up in my Olympus app. Can\'t tell if the problem is with the camera or the app.- Construction quality not the best. The battery cover was extremely difficult to use. Often got stuck and I had to \"squeeze\" the sides of the camera to make sure it remained in place -----until finally --- the battery cover actually fell off!!! I\'m not really sure how to fix. So annoying.Overall, I\'m still happy w the camera --- but not sure I would repurchase given the Cons.
- The camera is lovely, purchased it for my mom. Takes nice photos but the one gripe I have has to do with the included lens. It has a locking mechanism. Every time you turn the camera on you have to unlock the lens. I almost returned it for this reason because I didn\'t want to give my mom a two step process to turning it on. But she got the hang of it, and it\'s hard to overlook the great price.
- Love this camera!! Originally found out about it through a blogger that I follow and so I had to try it out for myself. I really like that you can flip the bottom screen to take a selfie, or tilt it up if you want to hold the camera down but close.Great color options. Great picture quality. Bluetooth feature is a total PLUS!I took this camera on a hike, was able to pair it with my phone, set the camera on a stable rock, and take a picture of an awesome waterfall behind me.10/10 recommend this camera.
- Great camera. Small size and lots of capability. I am taking a class to get reacquainted with a high quality camera. I have been using point and shoot cameras for years. Good first camera for someone wanting to move up.
- Bought this for my daughter\"s birthday. It is perfect for photo beginners and takes really good shots. I am a big fan and user of Olympus cameras.
- Great price for a new EP-L8 with kit lens. Still has the added port on the hot shoe for an EVF that is lacking on the EP-L9. Handy little shooter for travel or vlogging.
- Loving the aesthetic and getting used to the software. It\'s a little clunky to move through the software, especially for doing the wifi connection to phone for downloading. I\'m used to a dSLR and it seemed quite confusing that I can\'t control with ISO very easily in manual. It\'s growing on me, but will take some time. Great for use in well-lit situations on Aperture priority. I\'m mostly taking photos of my family and it can be tough to get a non-blurry shot of a baby with this on any setting other than A Priority.
