  • I really wanted to like this camera, but It just doesn\'t work very well for streaming. There\'s supposed to be a driver or some software from the Ricoh website, but it seems to not exist anymore. If you plug it in to a computer it will allow you to switch to streaming mode, but unfortunately it\'s not a fully functional UVC interface, so normal software (i tried OBS, Windows Camera, VLC, and guvcview) can\'t open it. There\'s a Plug-In which can stream directly to YouTube/Facebook, but it causes the camera to overheat after just a minute or two so it\'s also useless. If you only want it for stills and per-recorded stuff it\'s a great choice, but it\'s not viable for streaming. There\'s a GitHub repo of a custom build if libuvc and some examples, but even when I got them to build I couldn\'t get them to open the camera for streaming. I tried this in the factory firmware and updated to 1.30 (current as of 11-19-2022) and no luck. Maybe in the future it will be fixed, but for now I can\'t recommend it.
  • So far so good. I would say get the Amazon warranty because this thing is slippery as a fish. They are not supported for repair by the manufacturer, only replacement at a very high cost so get the warranty. I just dropped mine and scratched the lens and I’ve only owned it for a few days.Complaints battery compartment flips open all the time. Battery last maybe 25 shots. So get a spare or strap a power supply battery to your tripod which is not ideal. oPositives picture quality is fabulous especially when using it for a Zillow 3-D tour in real estate. Does have WAY more distortion than the Z-1.Jury still out as it is almost the cost of the Z-1 but definitely has more distortion of the image but the jpeg quality is much better than the Z-1.
  • I\'m a professional real-estate photographer. I purchased this camera to create 3D tours. I have found some shortcomings of this device which not many people mention. The first is that this device consumes a lot of power. I really can\'t go longer than thirty minutes or about 22 3D images before I have to replace the battery. I quickly learned that I needed spares. Secondly I recently experience overheating. I do live in Nevada mind you, but it wasn\'t hotter than 85F that day. I literally had to blow on the camera to cool it down to get to turn on again after it overheated. To me this overheating disqualifies it from the category of a professional product. I contacted customer service and they advised me to swap out batteries as that is the source of the overheating. I haven\'t tested that \"fix\" but that\'s not exactly convenient now is it?
  • Purchased this in USED LIKE NEW condition from Amazon Warehouse. Came with everything and other than packaging being previously opened, it pretty much was LIKE NEW. However, after only a few months use, the threaded hold on the bottom where you mount to a tripod plate completely failed. Turns out, it\'s PLASTIC! We\'ve never encountered a tripod mount screw that wasn\'t metal, so its only a matter of time before the metal into plastic will fail. As it did for us. No problem right? The warranty on the camera was 1 year parts and labor. we filled out the form, provided the documentation and shipped to Precision Camera for repair. Only after paying shipping and waiting a few weeks, were we told (after multiple calls, 3 different service reps and a call to Ricoh) that it would not quality for warranty repair because it was a used device bought on Amazon.AMAZON does not make this information available and sells returned items at a slight discount. In this case we are now left with a useless, fairly expensive camera. We\'ve been doing production for 20+ years and have not had an issue like this before. Our recommendation is to let Amazon sit on their returned items and either buy new or used from a place that offers an additional warranty such as ebay. Very poor service from Ricoh and their service provider, Precision Camera.
  • Still image quality is pretty good all things considered. Still not the level of quality you\'d get from snapping multiple shots with a smartphone or an array of action cameras, which is disappointing at this price point. GPS will ONLY work when triggering the shutter release via the smartphone app -- the bluetooth remote will not achieve this. Battery life is rough at 45 minutes but you can at least swap out batteries as needed. The biggest thorn in my side was that the camera overheats and shuts down after 1 minute of live streaming video in WLAN Client mode. I tried 2 of these Theta X\'s to confirm the first one was not just a dud.
  • Works OK but it isn\'t fully supported by Matterport so didn\'t work for me. Also, no RAW The battery life is terrible but so is the Z1 I replaced it with. I strap a portable power supply to the tripod and plug it in during a shoot and it\'s at 100% when I\'m done, so that is the answer
  • Don\'t know how they do it... But... WOW. Impressive. There\'s lots of in depth reviews, critiques of good and bad... ... ... For me, it\'s like flying in a plane.. Sitting in a chair, going through the air a 100\'s of MPH, 1000\'s of feet off the ground and ... bitching about the peanuts or standing in a line... you\'re flying... it\'s amazing... it\'s not about the nuts... so... details aside... this Theta X 360 is like flying... it is nothing short of amazing... and about as easy as it gets to figure out and get good results.
  • One of the biggest selling points is the built in GPS....HOWEVER! guess what. it doesn\'t work. I\'ve tried to upload numerous videos and YES, the gps location icon was fully illuminated and YES, the firmware is up to date.So far Ricoh \"customer service\" has been abysmal. I sent detailed information (including video exif data) and they have been less helpful than I would expect a Electronics Walmart worked would be able to provide as far as help!
