- I searched and searched for the ideal compact semi-pro camera and purchased this one. It was pricey but had a full one inch sensor that is supposed to be greatly superior to the typical smaller sensor. The camera also has a lot of bells and whistles on it that were supposed to be useful. Unfortunately, I find the reality to be rather flawed. It has too darned many bells and whistles in fact. It seems to have zillions of features that I don\'t want or need. I wouldn\'t care about that except every time I touch the darned camera, even the touch screen it resets the camera. Then I\'m not able to take a picture at all because it\'s trying to send a picture across Wi-Fi, or do some other feature I have no use for. I just want to take a picture and it won\'t let me. Often. I turn the camera off to reboot it but then I miss my shot. And even then it frequently won\'t go back to the photo taking mode but tries to force me to select any one of a number of things I don\'t want or need. Also, I have found that the camera has accidentally deployed several times, that is that it has turned on and extended the lens while in my bag. This has never been a problem with any other camera I\'ve owned. One time in fact, it caused the lens to be badly scratched when it was forced to grind against the lens cover and I didn\'t even know it was happening because it was stowed away in the bag. It destroyed the lens though. Fortunately I had taken out an insurance policy on it and I had the lens replaced. Finally I find it just doesn\'t take sharp shots. Colors are not vivid. I recently returned from a trip where I saw fellow travelers with much simpler and much less expensive cameras made by Lumix, Canon and others. All of them made better pictures than mine. I think I\'m going to sell this turkey to the used camera shop and buy something that will work better. Big disappointment from what was supposed to be a dream camera. Should have stayed with Canon.
- We never, ever check a bag, and we travel a lot. I already have the Panasonic FZ1000 and I love it. When I saw this, and I knew I needed a backup camera, this selection seemed to hit the spot. The operation and guts are similar to the FZ1000, and the small form factor fits our travel packing perfectly. The selection of items were decent and included a padded wrist strap that was not on the list shown. The SD card was correct in its writing speed. The batteries work well. I like this camera because you can charge from an external battery, but I wont have to, with the extra batteries. I typically shoot aperture priority or manual, and so far so good. It arrived from the seller faster than promised. It can zoom out to 2000 if you get the picture size small enough, but the 250 mm should do. It does shoot RAW and super fine JPG. One star off because the anti-shake does not seem as robust as the FZ1000 (could be the smaller size, compensated for by faster SS), and the writing to the SD card does not seem quite as fast. It does shoot 4k video pretty easily. I also have not been able to find filters yet, but I am searching. Overall an excellent backup mirrorless camera that can shoot with a wide variety of settings. I have not had the trouble with the viewfinder knob that others have had. I did put a screen protector on the 3\" viewfinder, because it does not flip over like the FZ1000.Edit- The included software does edit JPG photos, but it does not edit RW2 Raw photos taken with the DMC-ZS100. Specifically this is Corel Aftershot 2. I am not sure that Aftershot 3 will even edit photos taken with this camera. Here are the supported cameras from Panasonic after downloading the most recent update on the Corel website. DMC-GM1, DMC-GX7, L1, L10, LF1, LX1, LX2, LX3, LX5, LX7, LX100, FZ8, FZ18, FZ28, FZ30, FZ35, FZ38, FZ40, FZ45, FZ50, FZ150, FZ200, FZ1000, G1, G2, G3, G5, G6, G10, GF1, GF2, GF3, GF5, GF6, GH1, GH2, GH3, GH 4, GM1, GM5, GX1, GX7, TZ60, ZS40. Still a 4 star because the software failure is not a big enough problem to lose a star. I will probably just use Lightroom. This camera may be so new, the file type has not been added, but I would have thought it would have been identical to the FZ1000. Uploading some jpgs taken recenlly. The RAW files do open in the included Paintshop Pro 7.
- The Lumix DMC-ZS100 is the best travel camera currently available. It is the only travel camera with a 1\" sensor and a 10x zoom. It also shoots excellent 4k video.This bundle comes with a fast 64gig SD card, 2 extra batteries, an external charger, and a nice camera case that will hold the camera, the extra batteries, and the charger. Also, the free software they sent was different from what is pictured. But I didn\'t care because I wasn\'t going to use those things anyway.
